About The Author

I had the great good fortune of holding the consecutive positions of Publisher and President of Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel and budgettravel.com for eleven years beginning in 2000 after its acquisition by Newsweek Inc./Washington Post Company.

On the frontlines of the digital revolution as it began impacting the traditional media landscape, we launched our first web presence as the sole travel content provider to MSNBC.com in 2002, subsequently spinning off as an independent website, BudgetTravel.com, in 2005. The site quickly grew to over a million visitors monthly and generated nearly 25% of the company’s revenues overall.

From the Budget Travel franchise, we launched the special interest publication, Girlfriend Getaways (distributed twice yearly to Budget Travel’s 300,000 female subscribers), and its companion website, girlgetaways.com. My interest in the women’s travel market was born!

Following my time with Budget Travel I joined ShermansTravel Media, a digital publisher of hand-picked travel deals and money-saving advice, as Chief Revenue Officer in 2013. I led the sales strategy that increased revenue across STM’s existing product portfolio as we successfully launched an audience-retargeting product as an early adaptor of both DMP and DSP platforms and technologies.

Most recently I led digital initiatives at the MPA – The Association of Magazine Media– meeting with many exciting and innovative digital start-ups and developed programs and opportunities designed to showcase their capabilities to advance the business of content publishing.

As a multi-platform media executive, I have a track record of developing big ideas and winning strategies from brand positioning and monetization to content and product development resulting in successful businesses and cross-platform media brands at established, start up and turnaround media properties. I’m convinced there has to be an easier way to research and book travel experiences tailored for women than currently available on the web today. Women’s Travel Marketing is my journal of discovery.
