If women make more than 50% of all leisure travel decisions, what slice of that spend is on travel just for them? Is the spend against women’s solo travel and girlfriend getaways of all kinds, big enough to scale and sustain a digital business connecting women directly to those travel options? I’m planning to find out.
Because right now – and I speak from experience as a consumer – connecting to travel inventory and planning itineraries designed with a woman in mind, just takes too many clicks!
I’ve had a few “aha” moments about this idea over the years that have helped to formulate my vision. I’ll be chronicling my exploration and discovery of the market and opportunity for a digital business that takes the friction out of planning and booking travel itineraries curated specifically for women. Just last week I was talking to friends about my blog going live. One of them mentioned that she recently returned from a golf vacation in Palm Springs with her husband. They had a great time. It got her thinking about all of the other places she’d like to go. As she started running through them, her husband listened and then said, “Mmm, I think some of those trips are better for you and your girlfriends.” Aha! I think he’s onto something! If only there was a website where she could seamlessly plan and book those adventures…stay tuned.
